rainy days and dreams

I consider myself a fairly lucky person. I can not even believe what happened really did.
I was driving in the rain on the 91 East when a truck passing me splashes a huge amount of water towards my car. then I must have turned the wheel just a little too much because the car jerked to the left and started spinning. and when I hit the brakes as least panicked as I could, I kept spinning.
so I held the wheel even tighter than I already was to gently pull it in the opposite direction that I was spinning and pumped the breaks. and I don't remember if I pumped the breaks gentle enough or if I did that very hard in a panicked way- but my car stopped either way.
and though I was now stopped very close to the carpool lane wall, I was facing traffic. so the majority of the cars that were behind me just kept on driving, but a few stopped and put their hazard lights on to let me through.

at that point I just mostly couldn't even believe that had just happened.
I couldn't believe I didn't fly into the wall and flip over- or slam into other cars.
all those short moments felt pretty unreal. and I'd guess it was just about a minute or so from the time I started hydroplaning to the time that I was stopped and then slowly turning around to re-join the traffic.

I don't know what else to say. I seem to have shitty luck with cars sometimes.
makes me think of the time a tire shard flew out from under someone's wheel and slammed into my windshield; leaving it nearly shattered, but in tact.
I did gain some insight into how dangerous driving in really rainy conditions can be though.
so you know I was driving incredibly careful the rest of my drive home after I had stopped in a neighborhood to calm down and check the tread on my tires. which the back tires have a lot less tread than the front. probably should be replaced..

first public entry in a while
lately all of my entries have been friends only or just plain private
because all they entail are details about what's been happening in my life
